Home care lets an Alberta senior stay in their own home while getting help with daily living — companionship, personal care, medication reminders, or skilled nursing. It's often the first step that delays or avoids a move into a facility, and it scales up or down as needs change. How much does home care cost in Alberta? +
Private-pay home care is usually hourly — roughly $35–$45/hour for a health-care aide and $55–$65/hour for nursing visits — with a minimum visit (commonly two to four hours).
Is home care covered by Alberta Health? +
Some hours are publicly funded after an AHS assessment. The CDHCI program lets eligible clients choose a provider, with approved hours billed through Alberta Blue Cross.
What is the difference between home care and home support? +
Home support is non-medical help (housekeeping, meals, companionship); home care adds personal care and skilled nursing. Many agencies offer both.
