How we handle your information
ABSeniors is a free directory of senior services in Alberta. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and what we do and don't do with it. It applies to the matching quiz, the contact forms on listings, and our care line at (587) 317-3232.
What we collect
- From the matching quiz: your name, email, optional phone, the city you're searching in, the kinds of care you're looking for, rough timeline and budget, and anything you type in the notes.
- From a phone call: your phone number, the time of the call, and any notes we take so we can help you.
- Automatically: ordinary web server records such as IP address and pages viewed.
We ask about care needs and mobility because they determine which services can actually help. Please don't send us diagnoses or medical records — we don't need them, and we aren't a health provider.
Why we collect it
To find services that fit your situation, to email you those results, and to answer you if you reply or call. That's it.
Who we share it with
We share your name and contact details with a service provider only if you tick the box asking us to. That box is optional and unchecked by default.
If you don't tick it, we may still tell a provider that a family in your city is looking for a particular kind of care, without your name, contact details, or anything about your situation — enough for them to know the referral came from us, not enough to identify you.
We don't sell your information, and we don't run advertising networks on this site.
How long we keep it
Quiz submissions and call records are kept for two years so we can pick up a conversation where it left off, then deleted. Ask us sooner and we'll delete them sooner.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for a correction, withdraw your consent to share, or ask us to delete everything. Email david@abseniors.com and we'll action it. There's no form and no fee.
Keeping it safe
Information is stored on our hosted database, access is limited to the people who run ABSeniors, and the site is served over HTTPS.
Who's responsible
ABSeniors is operated from Alberta and handles personal information under Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act. Questions or complaints: david@abseniors.com. If you aren't satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
